As a veterinarian with over 20 years’ experience of avian veterinary work (and nearly 40 years as a bird keeper), he recognized the need for products that would help the UK avian veterinary sector, and UK avicultural sector, provide optimal nutrition for the birds in their care. Fourteen years later, the company has grown and now supplies a wide range of products for avian and exotic care to over 20 different countries. The business is now also run by his wife, Sheila and his children, Peter and Susan, who both joined the business over seven years ago after graduating from Oxford University.   Veterinary experience Alongside his work with Meadow’s Animal Healthcare, Brian continues to work in his small animal veterinary practice (Meadow Lane Veterinary Centre in Loughborough), with a particular focus on avian care, and delivers both lectures and practical sessions on avian topics for the local university (Nottingham Veterinary School). He has also delivered many lectures to all sectors of the avicultural community, from local bird keeper societies through to veterinarians at national and international conferences.
