Dr. Karen Rosenthal is Named 2010 Exotic DVM of the Year
Karen L. Rosenthal, DVM, MS, Director of Special Species Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, received the 2010 Exotic DVM of the Year award at a presentation held during the recent annual conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) in San Diego.
Dr. Rosenthal received a BA in Zoology from State University of New York at Oswego in 1980, an MS in Zoology from Duke University in 1982 and a DVM degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. She has extensive research and clinical expertise with all exotic pets, including clinical pathology and radiology. She is the author of numerous publications, including Self Assessment Colour Review of Exotic Animals in 2008 and is a popular speaker at veterinary conferences.
Dr. Rosenthal is also a veterinary consultant for VIN and is the immediate past president of AAV and the 2010 AAV conference chairman.
The Exotic DVM of the Year Award is presented annually by Exotic DVM Veterinary Magazine to an individual who is: * extraordinarily competent with all species of exotic pets. * dedicated to advancing the exotic animal medicine profession. * deeply involved in the education of veterinary students and clinicians. * passionate in his/her commitment to stimulating interest in exotic pets. * influential on an international basis and an ambassador of good will for the exotic animal profession. |
